Luli Fama's 2013 Swimwear Collection at Miami's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

The third show Sunday evening in the Cabana Grande at Miami's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim was Luli Fama from Cuban born designer Lourdes “Luli” Hanimian and her Argentinian born brother-in-law Augusto Hanimian. While both designers were born abroad, both were raised in Miami and the tropical environments of their childhoods led to their passion for swimwear. Luli and Augusto have been business partners since 1993 when they launched their first company, Cover Style, a junior swim wear line. In 2003, they began designing adult contemporary swimwear under their new company, Luli Fama Swimwear. The company name comes from a combination of Augusto's nickname for his business partner "Luli" and the word for fame in Spanish which is "Fama." The line is best known for their eccentric color palette and flattering fits.

Models walked the runway Sunday night in bikini looks as well as a few beach/swim cover up looks including rompers, silk jumpsuits, a tunic and a wrap skirt. Constructed of only the finest imported fabrics from world renowned artisans, all suits and outerwear are made from lightweight, soft fabrics.

Staying true to their aesthetic, colorful prints were used for all outerwear with the only exception being a bright magneta, solid color, silk jumpsuit. A beautiful, bright ocean blue was a standout color on both bikini tops and bottoms. Their bikini tops were constructed in a variety of styles including bandeau tops, string tops, and thicker halter tops.

Luli Fama is completely designed and constructed in Miami. Quite impressively, the line has been featured in the American Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue four years in a row and their suits were featured on the cover of both the German and British Sports Illustrated issues. Editorially, in addition to their Sports Illustrated success, they have been featured in Elle, Vogue, In Style, Cosmopolitan, Lucky, Ocean Drive, Maxim, Glamour, and FHM. Their colorful and fashion forward suits are perfect for the camera and television screen and have been featured in countless music videos and MTV programs. Counting fans like supermodel Bar Rafaeli among their many customers, the line is currently available online at retailers like Victoria's Secret.com, Nordstrom.com, Shop Bop, and Becker Surf.com.

Consistently producing looks that are sophisticated yet still fun and flirty with a quintessential Latin flair, Luli Fama is perfect for the colorful beaches of Miami or your next tropical getaway.
