Caffé Swimwear's 2013 Collection Brings The Heat to Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim

On the third day of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim, in the Cabaña Grande of the picturesque, Raleigh Hotel in South Miami Beach, Caffé Swimwear presented their amazing 2013 collection.

Born in Cali, Columbia, Caffé designer, Paula Saavedra, brought the flare and flavor of her South American roots to life through her astounding collection. Caffé Swimwear first burst onto the scene in 2004 and has been turning heads ever since. Its popularity has spread like wildfire; and is offered for sale internationally, in 38 countries. After earning her degree in Marketing and Advertising from Emerson College in Boston, Paula joined the creative team of McCann Erickson, a leading global marketing communications company in Miami. She worked in advertising for a few years and ultimately identified the need for a high-end, yet wearable swimwear line. Having always had a love for fashion and drawing, she and a friend channeled their creative energy into realizing the feat of launching a luxury swimwear line. Two years later, in 2006, Paula bought her partner's participation and is now the sole owner of Caffé Swimwear. Her quality designs are influenced by current fashion trends and the rich culture and beauty of her beloved country, Colombia. She designs with the belief that women strive to look and feel confident and sexy , and can do so in her comfortable, hand-crafted, yet glamorous swimwear.

The Caffé, 2013 collection featured a stunning presentation of vivid, tropical shades and unique, lively patterns. Each look was figure flattering and styled to perfection - the essence of sexy chic. The vibe was breezy and refreshing and never compromised style and comfort. Beachy-glam ensembles all paired with classic gold accessories, and models donning gorgeous sun-kissed makeup, sleek ponytails, and toting straw and crocheted beach bags highlighted this striking presentation.

 Fun, embellished, silk kaftans sporting delicate beaded accents and coverups, topped flower printed bandeaus combined with classic black bikini bottoms, two and one-piece numbers with alluring cutouts in a plethora of brilliant shades of coral, aqueous blues, yellows and hints of animal print. Dazzling, flowing summer dresses in fluid fabrics were refreshingly effortless and transported  the audience to a far off tropical destination. Looks also included various resortwear suited for the poolside, beach or a summer stroll in the city. My personal favorite look, which Paula Saavedra wore, was a lovely printed, chiffon dress splashed in countless hues of blue and sprinklings of black and white, complete with tassel tie - GORGEOUS! The superior craftsmanship and precise fit also did not go unnoticed. Hand-crafted in Colombia, these pieces are made in a mix of Brazilian and American cuts, with flawless seamless stitching, and made to withstand extensive sun exposure and repeated wear, without fading or losing its original, immaculate fit. An added bonus for  Caffé's fashion-forward customers, is that it offers edgy, reversible numbers which add support and provide maximum comfort.

Cia.Maritima's Collection at Miami Fashion Week 2013

Considered the hottest and most sought after swimwear line in Brazil, Cia.Maritima was launched by Benny Rosset in 1990. The line features embroideries, hand detailing, crystal beading, and intricate lace, making it high end and high quality.

During the show at Miami fashion week 2013, prints were absolutely stunning. Multicolored and blended to look almost like a gorgeous night sky, pieces were anything but ordinary. One pieces were cut on the sides to add an element of sexy, and prints were tropical and unique. With palm trees, mod-prints, and summery hues, this swimwear turned heads. I loved a yellow bikini with a tie and ruffle bottom and tiny triangle top. Leopard print is one of my favorite styles, and with an ultra-small leopard bikini, the model looked fierce and ready for a day by the pool.  On top of the basic triangle and one-piece suits, some were higher waisted and belted on the side which was interesting and different than many suits that were shown at MFW. The same styles were spotted again in tie-dye prints, snakeskin and beautiful bold hues that were stunning and showed off the hottest colors of summer. I especially loved the suits that had added ruffles and the sets that were printed with a detailed floral print.

Cover-ups were another story, because the lines cover-ups were much more than just something to wear over a swimsuit.  To start, a short dress with a long train was literally one of the most beautiful dresses I saw at fashion week. Short in the front with a train in the back, it was multi-colored and even featured a turquoise belt with a sparkling buckle in the middle. Following it was a short and belted long sleeve floral dress that was paired with ankle-strap heels-this would be perfect for a night on the town in Miami. Another cover up was completely open in the front, only connected by a yellow belt that allowed the model to show off her flawless figure, but still be somewhat covered up at the same time. Featuring bold, beautiful hues and a dazzling print, the model wore a pink bikini underneath, color blocking perfectly.

It’s no wonder that some of the most prestigious models in the world love to walk in Rosset’s shows-his collection was absolutely jaw-dropping.

Aqua di Lara's 2013 Collection at Miami's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

Aqua di Lara premiered their 2013 swimwear collection on Saturday evening, July 21st, at Oasis for Miami's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Swim. Under the creative direction of Reyhan Sofraci, Aqua di Lara specializes in taking inspiration from both lingerie and high fashion to create designer swimwear. The collection uses only high quality European fabrics from their atelier in Montreal to construct their garments. Each suit is sewn using only the latest techniques with the ultimate attention to detail. Designed to enhance the feminine form, the designs are constructed to be worn both in and out of the water and fit like a second skin. Each collection is inspired by Sofraci's world travels and it has been said she uses materials on the female body like a painter uses paint on canvas. In 2007, Sofraci was even awarded Fashion Designer of the Year by the Institut de Design Montréal for her innovative work.

Aqua showed both their White Label collection and Black Label collection together on the runway. The White Label was comprised of pastel looks, rich colors and detailed prints while the Black Label showcased metallic prints and two black dresses perfectly suitable as evening wear. Opening the show with a dual toned red and gold bikini with a silk like sheen, the lingerie influence was strongly seen in the first few pieces sent down the runway.

As was the trend throughout the week of shows, many of the suits were monokinis, meaning one pieces with cut outs. Tan lines aside, the suits offer a nice alternative to bikinis and Aqua showed some great options in beautiful copper, blue and gold tones. Retro, art deco influences were also seen in the color and shapes of the fabrics, particularly in a red and gold one piece with a bodice like halter top. Other highlights included an animal print halter bikini and a monokini made of a watercolor like multi-colored fabric.

Poko Pano 2013 Collection - MBFW/Miami Fashion Week Swimwear

Designer Paola Robba showcased her line, Poko Pano at Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Swim 2013 at the Raleigh Hotel in Miami and the crowd was in awe of her gorgeous collection. Going along with the Brazilian way of thinking, the brand likes to mix and match tops and bottoms from the collection, making each get-up unique and its own. Models also walked the runway in unique and interesting necklaces that added extra oomph to the suits.

With a line full of swimsuits and separates, many pieces stood out to me while watching this stunning show. I absolutely adored the tiny bottoms that tied only on one side-the prints were beyond fabulous. Also, even her simple pieces (no patterns) were unique in their own way, whether it was because of their beautiful hues or because of the shape and way that it tied. On top of the beautiful nature-inspired prints, Robba used metallic colors in some of her styles, and although it was basic, the styles made them exceptional. I was impressed by the Missoni-stripe style pieces as well, they appeared in numerous shapes and styles, and the colors they were comprised of worked beautifully. My absolute favorite suit was a simple white one piece with crème colored birds in flight on the front. It was simple, but so beautiful at the same time. – it was also shown in a two-piece with a higher cut bottom and a crisscross top.  With simple hues, intricate detailing, bows, ruffles, and crochet, this collection is suited for any woman, any where, that is any size- it truly is universal.

Cover-ups were beautiful and unique as well. Robba used florals, coral hues, and sunny, bright colors to make her designs stand out, and even included a mod-style white dress linked with white discs. Her cover-ups were so fascinating that rather than being worn to cover-up a bikini, they could be worn out and for so much more. A white jumpsuit in particular, stood out to me. It was low cut, with a metal-style belt on the front and was beyond beautiful with the models simple makeup and pulled back hair.

Poko Pano’s collection was deserving of all the attention in the world. The line was beautiful, well constructed, and put together with perfect jewelry, and basic makeup and hair, allowing the collection to really standout…which it definitely did.
