Octavio Carlin Atelier Grad Opening in Hollywood, Ca

With the opening of the first Octavio Carlin Atelier in Beverly Hills, designer Octavio Carlin has turned his LA fashion moment into a solidified presence. Fashionistas throughout LA will finally be able to purchase the stunning pieces seen on this seasons’ runway show and on celebrities such as Paris Hilton, Selena Gomez, and Sharon Stone.

The grand opening of the Kings Road store (on the corner of Beverly Dr.), was a wonderful inauguration to what is sure to become the stomping ground—or rather, shopping ground—of the most fashionable women of Los Angeles who Carlin cites as his major inspiration. Crisp white walls called attention to the black curvilinear chandelier, lending a contemporary aesthetic to the space. Carlin welcomed guests with sparkling sangria and an assortment of baked donuts from YuMMy Baked. Attendees milled about the boutique, examining Carlin’s innovative pieces and mingling with the other guests, including Emmy winners and a director of box office hits. A model circulated through the crowd, giving movement to Carlin’s creations; a floor length, gold lamé gown with a cut running up to the knee caught everyone’s attention. The night ended with guests receiving Snapette gift bags filled with coupons and a jersey, black-to-gray ombre scarf made by Carlin.

The successful opening was likely a high point for the label Octavio Carlin has worked so tirelessly to build. Carlin was a child actor in Mexico before moving to the United States to pursue interior design at FIDM. An internship in costume design at Disney sparked a change in career path leading him to pursue fashion design. He continued to work at Disney until he launched the Octavio Carlin label and a corresponding boutique in 2006. Infusing aspects of his Old Hollywood paradigm into each look, Carlin has been a prolific producer of refined fashion ever since. In addition to his thriving womenswear, Carlin has had successful forays into menswear and bridal attire.

With the opening of the Atelier, Carlin makes good on his promise to continue producing the glamorous looks his varied clientele adore. He hinted that his Spring/Summer 2013 collection will be colorful and have more separates. Jersey—Carlin’s favorite material to work with—will be a prominent stable in the collection. Another bridal collection is in the works and while there are no current plans to create menswear pieces for the upcoming season, Carlin anticipates its return in the future.
