A.Z. Araujo Runway 2013 Swimwear debutes at Miami's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week

Brazilian designer A.Z. Aruajo's collection of swimwear for summer 2013 debuted this past weekend at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in sunny Miami, Florida.  Aruajo's designs are the epitimy of stylish swimwear with elements incorporated from his home country, Brazil.  His swimsuits include both a women's and men's line with luxury and ready-to-wear bathing suits in the collection.  The fabrics included fruit and floral motifs.  The bright  and cheery colors remind one of sunsets and tropical rainforests.  A lemon covered swimwuit was also featured in a variety of half shoulder styles.  Another had intricately placed zig zag cut-outs, sure to leave an interesting tan line of body art.  Feminine high-waisted shorts in a matching fabric as the swimsuits were also included in the runway show.  Perfect for wearing to and from the beach.

Araujo, the talented designer behind all of these fabulous pieces,  was born and raised in Brazil. His inspiration to design started when he was a young boy, watching his aunt make clothes.  His first job involving fashion began after he had been working as an actor on a soap opera television show. Upon befriending the wardrobe stylist, he eventually became an assistant to a well-known costume designer in Rio, Hilda Marinho.  Here he learned how to work with fabric and the art of detailing.

Ten years later, Araujo headed to New York City to continue his acting career. But his passion for designing and working in fashion was not left behind.  In 2008, he decided to create his own fashion line and his namesake brand, A.Z. Araujo, was launched.  The collection first debuted last year at the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in Miami.  The event even featured celebrities from Bravo's Real Housewives of Atlanta and Miami. Araujo's designs have also been worn by Miss Universe 2009 and 2010 winners.

The men's swimwear line included not only board shorts and swim trunks, but also cropped and full length pants as well.  The shorts came in two varieties; one with a longer hemline and another slightly shorter, more European looking swim trunk.  Bright, tropical patterns were also used for the these pieces adding a bit of flare to the male physic.

The LA Fashion Magazine August "Swimwear 2013" Issue is Out!

On August 6th 2012 The Los Angeles Fashion magazine announced its third Print Publication, the The LA Fashion magazine 2013 Swimwear Collections Issue. This is the 3rd printed “teaser” issue the LA Fashion magazine has published on a bimonthly basis. Starting in October, The LA Fashion magazine will release regular monthly editions on both Print and Digital platforms.

Los Angeles, CA August 6, 2012

The Magazine’s print issue is available for purchase on The Los Angeles Fashion magazine’s website http://www.TheLosAngelesFashion.com as well as on some of the most popular Los Angeles News Stands. Digital copies are also available for free of charge from the website, and an Apple Newsstand subscription starting in mid August, is on its way.

The Los Angeles Fashion magazine has released 3 issues so far and in a very short time has gained quite a momentum with the digital reader community. The June issue featuring Alexis Bellino (Orange County House Wife ) and Tal Sheyn for example has boasted over 120,000 individual digital readers.

This third issue is 100 pages printed on high gloss, high quality 100lb paper, features over 40 pages of 2013 swimwear collections by designers and labels such as Beach Bunny, Maui and Sons, Culture Swimwear, Nicolita, Red Carter, Mara Hoffman, Lisa Blue and more.

Exclusive interview and feature story with  Kristi Yamaguchi (Gold Medal Olympic figure skater, Dance with The Stars  winner) about her upcoming active wear line Tsu.Ya is featured in this edition. The issue is also loaded with the best of Paris Couture Fashion week such as Elie Saab, Versace, Stephane Rolland and more.

The Los Angeles Fashion magazine is committed to stay “green”. The printed publications are printed on demand, and the distribution numbers are to be kept at a possible minimum. “We believe that paper publications should be considered Luxury items, not something you toss in a garbage can. Considering the natural resources used to create a publication, we should all look at alternatives when it comes to a magazine. But let’s not forget sometimes a printed magazine on a coffee table, in retail store, or a designer’s studio is just irreplaceable. After all, we all love the feeling of paper, looking at beautiful big images and so forth…, it’s just that we need to find the balance of what and when” said Csaba Fikker founder of The LA Fashion magazine.

The Los Angeles Fashion magazine launched its website 10 months ago. In a very short time The Los Angeles Fashion magazine has gained a large base of readers and social media followers, reaching over 1.5 million people monthly, becoming the fastest growing fashion source in the US . Social media presence and the website combined, provided over 20 million impressions last month alone, and is expected double in the next couple of months.

The World’s Most Fashionable Garage Sale – Super Saturday 15

Over the summer New Yorkers have a tendency to let their fashion senses slip a bit in the city. Every working weekday women can be found prancing down the steaming pavement of Fifth Avenue wearing Prada on top and $1.99 Chinatown flip-flops below to beat the stifling heat. But one weekend in The Hamptons marks the halfway point of the end of summer lazy fashion choices and the beginning of ready to wear Fall glory.

On July 28 Donna Karen, Kelly Ripa, Paula Patton and Ariel Foxman hosted what is playfully known in the fashion world as the planet’s largest and most fabulous garage sale. Hundreds of Manhattan socialites and fashion lovers migrated out East to attend Super Saturday 15 and to support The Ovarian Cancer Research Fund.

Celebrities and fashionistas gathered in the fields of Watermill, NY to shop at the Rolls Royce of super sales. Over 200 prominent designers this summer donated their merchandise for purchases that supported the fund and the research done to beat the disease.

Shoppers gather their purchases

“At Super Saturday you can go home with a great bag of goodies at a great price and know you have done something good with it,” stated Heather Thomson of The Real Housewives of New York. “I think it is an easier pill to swallow than just writing a $5,000 check.”

Fashion houses this year included Donna Karen, Theory, alice + olivia, J Brand, Diane von Furstenberg, Helmut Lang, Intermix, Ralph Lauren and Smythson. And for the fifth consecutive year, the “Designers A to Zoe” booth by Rachel Zoe featured luxury designers such as Stella McCartney, Proenza Schouler, Peter Som, Chloe, J Mendel, Oscar de la Renta, Zac Posen, Marc Jacobs and Marchesa.

Shopping in the tent

“The fashion community was so big in the beginning of this,” stated Audra Moran, CEO of Ovarian Cancer Research Fund. “They have allowed it to grow and grow.”

Super Saturday was created in 1998 by Donna Karen and the late Liz Tilberis in the designer’s own backyard as a way to give support to the fund and her dear friend suffering from the disease. The event went from raising an initial $200,000 to eventually becoming what it is today one of the hottest tickets to purchase in the world of fashion.

Survivors and loved ones signing the annual Wall of Hope outside the shopping tent

“I have been working at Super Saturday for several years,” stated volunteer Brian Mullane while working at the MK Totem booth. “We had a close family friend who was affected by the disease and my family comes out every summer to volunteer because it is important to us and so many other women.”

Despite stormy weather beating down on the annual sale, this year, it did not keep the shoppers out of the tent looking for a unique way to donate to the beloved non-profit charity. Well over $3.6 million was raised and proved that even in dark clouds the fashion world always finds the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow.

This years benefit raised nearly four million dollars despite smaller crowds due to thunderstorms

“It has been a great 15 years,” said Moran. “We hope to be out of business by next year, but that probably won’t happen since we have a long way to go to find a cure.”

L*Space: Mercedes Benz Fashion Week/ Miami Swimwear 2013

Creative director and lead designer of L*Space, Monica Wise, finds inspiration from the Southern California coast and every beach paradise she gets the chance to visit. She is also inspired by the decades of swimwear designers before her, especially from the 1960’s when mod, trendsetting, and timeless pieces started. L*Space is fashion-forward, chic, glam, and surfer girl all in one line. The pieces are well fitting, well made, and the line has even won numerous awards such as the SIMA Swimwear Brand of the Year and Mercedes Benz Designer of the Year, which was awarded to Wise herself.

During the show at Miami Fashion Week 2013, the collection was sexy, glamorous, and fun-all at the same time. Bikinis in different styles, colors, and prints stole the show. I have been a major fan of the brands fringe tops for awhile now, and the colors were exquisite. Paired with mismatched bottoms, the tops were flattering and flowed gracefully when the models walked the runway. I loved how a simple one-piece was turned into something so much more when the sides were cut out to add a whole new element of edge. My favorite suit was a one-piece that was actually made to look more like lingerie. A simple grey hue with darker lining, the cups were outlined to resemble a bra, and it was something else-absolutely stunning. The same style was shown again in a strapless one-piece and a high-waisted bikini . The collection featured pieces in gorgeous colors, ideal for an unforgettable summer look. With pretty pastel yellows and sky blue’s, models looked sweet and stylish. Floral prints were also a theme in the show, whether they were shown in a tiny bikini or more demure style such as a one piece, they were still beautiful and unique. A black one piece that was lined and accented with white lining stole the show and was reminiscent of the 1960’s style Wise has said inspires her.

L*Space’s collection said a lot about the line. Rather than adding embellishments, sparkles, and more of the like, the designs are simple, except for colors and prints, which showcases the style and beauty in each piece. Each piece was flattering, easy to wear, and could be worn on a tropical vacation or at a pool party- they really are fun and functional. With models in gorgeous sky-high gold heels, gold jewelry, and feather earrings, the suits were the focal point. Models rocked gorgeous glows, beachy hair, and simple makeup, which only added to the sole fact that these suits could be worn by anyone from the average woman to a runway model.

Dorit Swimwear 2013 at Miami's MBFW

Dorit Swimwear debuted their 2013 collection on Monday evening, July 23rd in the Cabana Grande at Miami's Mercedes Benz Fashion Week. Dorit International is an Italian resort and swimwear line founded and designed by native Italian Dorit Lemel. Lemel established the company in 2009 upon a move to New York City after working in fashion in Italy for almost ten years. With a design, manufacturing and sales background behind her, Lemel sought to bring her European design sensibilities and commitment to luxury to her own swimwear line. Dorit suits are constructed of only the finest Italian fabrics and each collection is designed with versatility in mind. Many suits are constructed with reversible and adjustable tops and bottoms. The suits are designed for the fashionable, well travelled, autonomous woman who wants to avoid mainstream, commercial swimsuit brands. Dorit also offers resort wear making their female customer's transition from pool to lounge to dining room virtually seamless. Models walked the runway Monday night in fifteen new looks including bikinis, sheer cover ups, and one of the most popular swimwear trends this season, monokinis.

Keeping the concept of versatility and flexibility in mind, Dorit creates small, interchangeable themes within her larger collection. For instance, the short, sheer, swirl patterned tunic shown over a coral colored bikini

is also designed to go with the bikini constructed of the same swirl pattern or with an orange bikini. Both of these swimsuit options were also shown on the runway. Dorit also showed some very strong neutral suits in a light, linen like color as well as some bright bikinis in blue, green, and yellow. A linen colored, long tunic was also shown to complement the neutral colored suits. With the transition concept in mind, this linen dress would be just as beautiful as a pool cover up as it would to wear out to dinner.

A personal favorite in the collection though, tan lines aside, was a unique black halter monokini with descending cut outs.

They can also be found at select boutiques in Manhattan such as Foravi Boutique and Pesca Trend and outside the city at boutiques such as Great Shapes and Jerrie.
