Maria Lafuente Presents, "PURE", Spring/Summer 2013 Collection

[arrowlist]Put your bullet list here[/arrowlist]During Mercedes Benz Fashion Madrid, in the famed and contemporary Utopic Gallery, Maria Lafuente presented her "Pure" Collection to a very receptive audience. The innovative collection consisted of sustainable fashion made entirely of organic materials.

Maria Lafuente is a skilled pattern maker who perfected her craft when she attended the Fashion Institute of León Masani. She later moved to Paris to study at the Institute Française Americaine. She completed her studies at the Higher Institute of Business and Fashion (ISEM). Since completing her studies and gaining extensive experience, Maria Lafuente has become a runway veteran having already presented her collections not only in Madrid, but also at additional prestigious international shows such as Paris, London, Tokyo, Miami and Sao Paulo. Her designs have graced the pages of Vogue magazine in Europe and she has also designed costumes for numerous films. Her designs are made for a woman with an edge - an attractive, rebellious edge, if you will. Her creations have character and not only propose, but celebrate what sustainable fashion can deliver.

The "Pure" collection is based on vegetation and communication between plants. Maria used recycled and sustainable properties, and applied them to her designs. She used materials such as, recycled rubber soles, silks, cotton, and potato starched tissues which are all natural components that apply to her design philosophy. Even the runway was made of compostable materials from potato starch and sugar cane. She cites her concept as a pure dream world, which as a whole will provide synergies that arise from the music she especially had created to play during the show, the materials used in her designs, the very charming location and the entire collection itself. Maria Lafuente expressed that the Utopic Gallery served as the perfect meeting place where new formulas and work study focus on sustaining and respecting  our environment.  The music that was composed for the show was courtesy of two brilliant composers, Zampronha Edson and David Dalmau, whose main focus and inspiration also revolves around vegetation and the preservaton of our precious environment.

In addition to Maria's one-of-a-kind, feminine pieces, models also donned an exclusive collection of shoes created by Maria Lafuente along with El Naturalista, which were made of natural materials and recycled rubber soles, staying true to her natural philosophy and rounding out a collection that was one hundred percent eco friendly and sustainable. This is the first time that the popular brand, El Naturalista, commits to a licensing agreement with a designer for Mercedes Benz Fashion Week Madrid.

Hair and makeup was provided courtesy of Davines Sustainable Beauty Concepts in collaboration with Life Gate . The brand raises awareness and is committed to the environment - complete with eco packaging, made from renewable energy sources and poses zero negative impact to our environment. Models even rocked jewelery made of recycled computer components! These ecclectic elements were made to create harmony with the vegetation and nature through fashion.

The unique, yet delicate looks  came together beautifully and excuded Maria Lafuente's purpose, to create : "A set of positive synergies make this collection a "Pure" element."

Maria Lafuente's Design Philosophy :

Everything that happens in society influences us in some way. We live in times in which every one of us must contribute and convey what makes us and helps us evolve or transmit positive values. They say that in times of crisis the good become better and the bad, worse. Inspiration for designs are drawn from plants, vegetation, flowers, nature and architecture. Plants communicate through their roots. Stefano Mancuso pioneer in the study of Neurobiology, found that plants are intelligent organisms. The preservation and respect of vegetation become protagonists in Maria Lafuente's world. Maria Lafuente designs are an effort to raise awareness and total respect for our environment through a vital and beautiful medium. The leiv motif is used to raise our society's awareness that nature must be respected.

Maria Lafuente's collections feature recycled materials, compostable, all natural materials such as silks, cottons and lace. The range of colors used will be shades of white yellow.

"In a clearing, in a lush forest there is a small cave under a mound covered with moss white petaled flowers, we find Lilium ringing in the interior of a music box. Immediately afterwards, as if from nowhere, a few elves appear in pale gala gowns walking so softly, they leave no trace ... without even stopping, one of them keeps a white petal in his hands and disappears in an instant, when, suddenly, a fairy descends, almost colorless, singing on the mound for our delight ... '
